Hello,

I’m Alex, and welcome to my little corner of the web, where I blend my daily escapades as a financial software engineer with a healthy dose of scepticism and panic. Sometimes I feel like I’m one of the ‘chosen ones’ – thriving in the bustling, never-sleeping world of London’s financial tech scene. Most times, I feel like i’m falling ass backwards in the bustling, never-sleeping world of London’s financial tech scene.

By day, I navigate the labyrinth of coding and software in one of London’s, glass-and-steel monuments to capitalism. I work with some great people. Our daily conversations are saturated with software lingo – open source technologies, architecture patterns, and my occasional input of “have you tried turning it off and on again?”

As a woman in this techy sphere, I am often reminded of my unique presence. Picture this: a sea of men and then there’s me, your token female, bringing a dash of oestrogen and great shoes to the table.

Aside from my day job, I also moonlight as an amateur food critic and professional bar hopper. From swanky sushi spots where the fish is fresher than my last code refactor, to dimly lit bars where the cocktails are as strong as my coffee needs to be the next morning – I’ll take you on a gastronomic journey through London’s best haunts.

In this blog, I’ll share my experiences – the good, the bad & potentially the baffling (I’ll need to do a content risk assessment first). So whether you’re a fellow code cruncher, a foodie, or just here for the laughs, the you my friend are in the right place.

Until next time, keep your code clean and your martinis dirty.

Ax
